Just before the media eclipse brought on by the pandemic, images of Australia in the grip of flames went around the world. Three years later, the effects of the devastation are still visible, and the memories linger in the minds of Australians. Journalist Clemens Pavić details the still-alive scars left by these fires and the increased likelihood of a recurrence.
