The 11th African Army Summit is being held from May 8 to 12 in Cote d’Ivoire under the theme “Addressing Security Challenges through Civil-Military Partnerships” with the participation of Morocco.
The 11th African Ground Forces Summit is jointly organized by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Côte d’Ivoire and the US Army through its Southern Europe Africa Task Force (SETAF).
According to the Chief of Staff of Côte d’Ivoire’s Army, Major General Dem Ali Justine, the purpose of this 11th summit is threefold.
It is about discussing security challenges in Africa, developing complementary and collaborative solutions to shared security challenges from a diverse network of partners and regional partnerships across Africa.
“Effective and efficient regional institutions can establish cooperatives and multinational partnerships across Africa,” Major General Tem Ali Justin explained at a meeting announcing the meeting.
The meeting in Abidjan is attended by over 300 military leaders, experts and participants from 40 African countries and 6 from Europe and the Americas.
On the menu of this summit, conferences hosted by Ivorian and international experts, exchanges, sessions in the Executive Committee and a visit to the International Academy against Terrorism in Jacquesville.
“This summit is an opportunity for the top ranks of African land forces to think about practical and realistic strategies in the face of national and international security challenges,” explained Téné Birahima Ouattara, Ivorian Minister of State and Minister of Defense. Initiation of this event.
The representative of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Côte d’Ivoire hoped that at the end of the exchanges, appropriate proposals would be made for the coordination of operations aimed at preventing the occurrence of terrorism and creating peaceful security. environment for African people.
US Ambassador to Cote d’Ivoire, Jessica Davis Pa, welcomed the summit, which will strengthen security cooperation between the ground forces and the people. Armed forces in managing security issues.
For his part, the Commander in Chief of US Forces Europe and Africa, Army General Darryl Williams, pledged his readiness to work with African countries to address security challenges through a strong partnership.
