Title: India’s Chandrayaan-3 Successfully Enters Lunar Orbit, Embarking on Historic Journey
In a remarkable feat, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has achieved yet another milestone as Chandrayaan-3, India’s lunar mission, successfully entered the lunar orbit. This significant achievement marks a remarkable moment in India’s space exploration history.
Chandrayaan-3 promptly sent its first message back to Earth, relaying its position in proximity to the Moon and the culmination of its encounter with lunar gravity. This confirmation of Chandrayaan-3’s safe arrival in the lunar orbit has filled the ISRO team with pride and enthusiasm.
ISRO’s meticulous planning and execution led to the completion of a planned lunar manoeuvre, skillfully maneuvering the spacecraft closer to a specific orbit around the Moon. Excitement builds up as ISRO gears up for three additional Moon-bound manoeuvres, with the next one scheduled for August 9, 2023.
Following these lunar-bound orbit manoeuvres, ISRO will embark on the challenging task of separating the landing module, Vikram, and the rover, Pragyan, from the propulsion module. For this, the integrated spacecraft will need to achieve a 100-kilometre circular orbit, following which the landing module will detach and proceed with its groundbreaking attempt.
On August 23, Vikram will perform a soft landing on the Moon’s South Pole after a series of intricate braking manoeuvres. This landing is a crucial aspect of the mission and will pave the way for India’s exploration of uncharted lunar territories.
Once the delicate landing is accomplished, Pragyan, the rover, will commence its mission to conduct various experiments on the lunar surface for one lunar day. These experiments will provide valuable insights into the Moon’s composition and assist in advancing our understanding of celestial bodies.
The health and progress of Chandrayaan-3 will be closely monitored from the Mission Operations Complex in Bengaluru, where ISRO’s dedicated team of experts will keep a watchful eye on the spacecraft’s journey.
With every successful milestone, India’s prowess in the field of space exploration continues to soar. Chandrayaan-3’s accomplishments further solidify India’s position as a prominent player in the global space race, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to pushing boundaries and unlocking the mysteries of the universe.
