Liam Fox made this statement in a statement to the press following a meeting with the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Abroad, Nasser Bourita.
“It is important to focus on what is best for the people of the region and find a practical solution to advance policies at the regional level,” he said.
As politicians and leaders, “it is our responsibility to ensure that quality and standard of living, the safety of citizens is placed at the top of the agenda,” said Mr. Fox promised.
Proposed by Morocco in 2007, the autonomy project in the southern provinces now has strong momentum and clear support from Spain, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Hungary, Romania, Portugal and Serbia.
Morocco, “a good example in terms of cooperation”
Morocco is a good example of cooperation with countries outside its geographic neighborhood, Liam Fox said during the same meeting.
“While not necessarily one of our immediate neighbors, Morocco is one of those countries with which we can promote better understanding and develop more common policies,” Fox said.
“Morocco, therefore, is a good example”, argued the British MP, explaining that the Kingdom is one of the best examples of countries cooperating with other functionally similar countries, even if they are not geographically neighboring countries.
Mr. Welcoming the constructive meeting with Bourita, he expressed hope that the exchanges focused on several issues of common interest, regional, political, economic and security.
