Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival: 14th Open Edition

His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimimember Supreme and Sovereign Council of Sharjah, The 14th edition of the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival was launched on Wednesday, May 3 SCRF. Organizing CommitteeSharjah Book Authority (SBA), the event records Moroccan participation spread over several pavilions. The 2023 edition of SCRF continues till May 14 under the theme “Train Your Brain”. It brings together 141 Arab and international publishers. Among them, a Moroccan publishing house specializing in children’s books “Yanbo Al Kitab“. Other Emirati and Arab publishers provide SCRF publications and translations signed by Moroccan authors.

According to the newspaperAszahra Al Maghribah“, Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi visited the various exhibition halls and places set up to welcome visitors. He learned about the various educational and creative platforms offered to young visitors and their families. “The Ruler of Sharjah visited the pavilion reserved for comedy. 323 activities and workshops with the participation of 15 creators from 4 countries and the strips offering a meet-and-greet and travel program”, notes an article from Vidat Taha’s Arabic daily.

Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi also visited the Children’s Book Illustration Exhibition, which showcased selected works from the 11th Children’s Illustration Competition. 85 artists participated in this art competition. During SCRF 2023 the first prize was awarded to Mexican illustrator Mariana Alcantara. Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival showcases various aspects of children’s literature. It aims to provide a reading and creative environment capable of encouraging and nurturing young talent. The event also includes families, making them a partner in encouraging children to read. For the organizers of the exhibition, the book is a means of learning, developing skills, promoting values ​​and preserving authentic identity by keeping in touch with elements of Arab culture.
