In France, Geipan, an office of experts at the National Center for Space Studies, volunteer investigators, scientists by training, takes UFO sightings very seriously.
Some people sometimes think they see it in the sky. For others, UFOs are a ubiquitous invention. In France, Geipan, an expert office at the National Space Research Center, takes these observations very seriously. For more than 40 years, they have been conducting investigations to determine the origin of these phenomena. These volunteer investigators, scientists by training, travel throughout France contacting witnesses.
3% of cases remain unexplained
Only about ten cases per year should enter the field. The rest takes place partly in the secret offices of Cnes engineers. Montpellier (Hérault) example with a mysterious glowing ball filmed in the sky. With a simple flight tracker, the doubt was quickly put to rest. On that day, a plane flew over the witness at the same minute that the glowing ball appeared. In total, nearly a hundred suspicious observations are processed each year. Most cases find a logical answer, but 3% remain unexplained.
